The Santuary is always in need of volunteers to help out with the daily running of the centre.

 

We welcome volunteers of all ages( over 16 ) and abilities. What we do ask is that you are commited to the days and times that you can offer so we can rely on your help.

 

There are so many areas that you can offer your time and skills for :-

 

ANIMAL CARE- but please bear in mind working with our animals is often physically tiring and dirty work and the animals can sometimes kick,scratch and bite - even the hand that feeds them! Volunteers are not responsible for feeding the animals - the animal carer does this - but volunteers are invaluable in that you help  with all the extra jobs that need doing - mucking out, washing intensive care hospital units, sweeping paths, cleaning out rabbit runs, cleaning owl nest boxes, cleaning wheelbarrows etc etc.

 

HELP IN THE GIFT SHOP - if you have retail or customer service skills or if you just like working with people instead of animals - then you are greatly needed to help in the giftshop serving customers, putting out new stock, cleaning and tidying shelves, keeping the shop generally clean and tidy.

 

HELP IN THE TEAROOM - if you enjoy working with people and are interested in catering or customer service, then the small tearoom at the centre may be an ideal working environment for you to help out in. The food is simple - jacket potatoes, toasted sandwiches etc but can get busy at weekends so help with clearing tables and washing up is so very welcome and needed.

 

FUNDRAISING EVENTS

 

This is where we need the help most and get the fewest offers!!

 

Our team of dedicated fundraisers are involved with numerous events and activities throughout the year from bagpacking at supermarkets, street collectins, running tombolas at garden centres and going to fairs with a number of smaller sanctuary animals.

 

Your help with our fundrasing activities helps raise much needed funds to keep The Sanctuary going - so even if you can offer one day a month - please get in touch as we really would welcome you to our friendly, fun team.

 

LEAFLET DISTRIBUTION

 

If you have transport and a few hours to spare a month - we need you to help distribute our leaflets to attract visitors to the centre.

Distributing leaflets to caravan parks, libraries,hotels and tourist information centres can help us attract more visitors and both raise awareness of the work we do and raise funds too.
