The Sanctuary Wildlife Care Centre
PDF Print E-mail
Welcome to The Sanctuary Wildlfe Centre.

The Sanctuary Wildlife Centre outside Morpeth is probably the largest wildlife rescue centre in the north-east of England.

Currently home to over 150 animals, The Sanctuary cares for injured and abandoned British wildlife as well as many unwanted farm and pet animals. Our aims are to care for wildlife, without discrimination, and to release the animal back to the wild. Only animals that are disabled or imprinted are given a permanent home at The Sanctuary in as natural an environment as possible. These are the permanent residents that visitors are able to see, but all wildlife that can be released back into the wild are cared for in either the intensive care unit or private areas of The Sanctuary. The Sanctuary was founded in 1993 but did not open as a visitor centre until 2004 to generate income to continue its work caring for wildife and unwanted animals. We hope you will make a visit to The Sanctuary as your visit here really does make a difference  and help us continue our work caring for wildlife.

Thanks - Kim and Allan
