We would like to thank a
group of adventurous young girls from Amble who did a sponsored walk in their
pyjamas to raise money for our animals.
Standing from the left we
have Ellie Brown, Eva Davis and Carly Jones and sitting from left to right we
have Molly Mooney and Ashleigh Hogarth, who all walked from Amble to Warkworth
and back to raise money for us.
Their walk started in Amble
Town Square, up the High Street and along the river to Warkworth. They
then walked around the castle and Warkworth village and back along the river
bank ending up where they started in Town Square and they did all this wearing
their pyjamas and carrying their teddy bears!!
Well done girls!!

The walk took them 2 hours
and they raised the magnificent sum of £165 for us. The owners, staff and
animals at The Sanctuary would like to thank them very much for this wonderful
gesture.

We would like to thank
the villagers of Felton who have twice held a coffee morning to raise funds for
us.
The first was held in
October 2007, to help us to raise money to build an over-wintering pen for the 2 red
squirrels which were brought to us in July, in order that they could be cared
for over the winter period and given a soft release in the spring.
This was a real
"money making" drive and the magnificent sum of £280 was raised by
tea and coffee drinking, a raffle, a bring and buy stall, a home baking stall
and donations from people who for one reason or another could not
attend. This was a huge help in the very expensive costs of wood and
mesh to build their pen.
In February 2008 (at very
short notice!) they held a 'normal' coffee morning - a much quieter but still
very enjoyable affair and raised the excellent sum of £80.
Tea and coffee drinkers
of Felton - we thank you and so do the animals who benefit from your kindness!!!

On the 25th
November, 2006 15 member of the Longhorsley Brownies held a sponsored "work
day" at the Sanctuary raising the magnificent sum of
£225. They arrived full of enthusiasm and were split into 2
groups. Firstly they learned about feeding and cleaning out the
foxes and the badgers, followed by a welcome cup of hot chocolate and a large
cookie.

Then it was
down to the stables to meet the goats, learn about mucking out (always an
enjoyable prospect) and grooming the ponies and donkeys.

Then, after
lunch as a reward they had a 'craft session' followed by a special presentation
of a 'certificate' for all their hard work.

On Whit Monday, 2006 we were
visited by (from left to right) Jessica (8yrs), Marion (8yrs) and Charlotte
(5yrs), who are seen here with our 3 tortoises.
Along with some of their
friends they held a sponsored run and raised the sum of £24.48. which they
brought to The Sanctuary and handed over for the animals.
Well done!

Also on Whit Monday, we
were visited by Charlotte and Chelsea, seen here with 'Star' the Barn Owl.
Charlotte and
Chelsea raised the magnificent sum of just
over £107.00. by holding a Tombola Stall at Amble Market the previous Sunday.
What an excellent
achievement!
